Over the last few years, Diptyque scents have taken over our homes and here at Your Dream Bag, we’re not mad about it. Adored by celebs like Victoria Beckham, Sofia Richie, and Meghan Markle, this perfume house knows how to make a gorgeous aroma.

Whether you want one of their luxury perfumes or a new candle for your favourite space, there’s a Diptyque fragrance for everyone, it’s just a case of finding one that matches your vibe.

Not sure where to even start with picking? To make things easier, in this blog, we’re taking a look at which Diptyque scent will be best for you.

What makes a Diptyque scent special?

You may be wondering why there’s so much hype around Diptyque fragrances – what sets them apart from other high-end perfume houses?

Firstly, you can’t beat Parisian perfume. France is a country known for its fragrances and many of your favourite eau de parfums were most likely developed there. Diptyque embraces that.

Coming from the best of the best is only the start. These luxury scents are crafted with quality, natural ingredients and you can truly smell the difference. The scents all have their own personality too, they stand out and get you noticed.

They’re also long-lasting and truly unique. Then you add the effortlessly chic packaging and of course, it’s a winning combination.

Who doesn’t love a scent that has everyone asking, “What perfume are you wearing?”

How should you pick a scent that suits you?

This is dependent on whether you want a signature scent to wear (and hopefully get complimented on) or something for your home so, lets break it down.

Perfumes and aftershaves

Firstly, take a look at different fragrance families and have a think about your preferences. For some of us, a warmer, spicier scent will have a hold on us but for others fresh and sweet scents may be more appealing. That’s why a signature scent is such a personal choice.

It’s also best to try before you buy. Try a couple on your skin at a time (too many may be overwhelming), and make sure you wait for it to dry before passing your judgment. The initial spritz will give you the top notes, but then the heart notes will come through, and when it’s dried, the base notes will linger.

Candles and room sprays

Diptyque is known for its candles but they do complimentary room sprays and diffusers too. Again, you’ll need to sample a few options before deciding because a list of notes doesn’t always say as much as the scent itself.

It’s down to what you’re looking for and simply, what you want your space to smell like. Maybe you want a welcoming scent or a fragrance that relaxes you when you’re getting ready for bed – maybe you want a different aroma to reflect the changing seasons? Go with your instinct (and your nose) because a nice smelling room can really change up your mood.

The best Diptyque Fragrances

Let’s start with the eau de parfums and eau de toilettes. Picking your signature scent can be tough but luckily for you, all of these are absolutely stunning.

Orphéon

Best for: Those who love an elegant, woody scent

Notes: Juniper berry, cedar, Tonka bean, jasmine

Created to make you feel like you’re in the 1960s, Parisian jazz club it was named after, Orphéon is probably Diptyque’s most popular fragrance. It’s warm and exciting, being described by many as ‘intoxicating’. It mimics tobacco smoke and vintage florals without being too heavy, plus it comes with a unique vibrant blue label.

Eau des Sens

Best for: Zesty scent lovers

Notes: Orange blossom, Angelica root, patchouli, juniper berry

Citrus fragrances tend to wake up the senses and Eau des Sens is no different – but it still remains completely individual. It is fresh with a bitterness to it too so, if you’re a fan of spicy, invigorating scents, this one’s for you. We love the optical illusion artwork featured on the bottle.

Eau Capitale

Best for: Those looking for a floral fragrance with a twist

Notes: Rose, bergamot, patchouli, pink peppercorn

Referred to as ‘Paris in a bottle’, we can’t help but fall in love with Eau Capitale’s Art Nouveau label design and fresh take on a floral scent. Flowery smells can sometimes feel dated but Eau Capitale has a spiced edge thanks to the pink peppercorn that truly elevates it and gets the wearer noticed. We’d say this is one of the best women’s fragrances from Diptyque.

Philosykos

Best for: Forrest and fig fans

Notes: Fig leaves, fig tree sap, fig tree wood, black pepper

A favourite of Elizabeth Olsen, Philosykos is more subtle than other picks but that may be why you end up loving it. We adore the combination of fresh and woody notes which feel incredibly sophisticated yet comforting. It’s a scent that brings you back to nature, effortlessly showcasing Diptyque’s use of natural ingredients.

Tam Dao

Best for: A spicy and smokey combo

Notes: Sandalwood, cedar, cypress, coriander

Yes Diptyque really is the one when it comes to warm scents. Inspired by the holy forests of Vietnam, Tam Dao is velvety and welcoming, combining cosy notes with an outdoors undertone. It was created with the sandalwood burned in temples from one of Diptyque’s founders, Yves Coueslan’s childhood in mind and that special memory is definitely encapsulated here.

Do Son

Best for: Summer evenings

Notes: Tuberose, pink peppercorn, benzoin, orange leaves and musk

Smooth and coastal, Do Son showcases the delightful nature of crisp white flower scents. This is another fragrance based on Yves Coueslant’s memories, this time his recollection of summers in the seaside village of Do Son where he enjoyed the smell of a sea breeze and local flowers.

Eau Rihla

Best for: Everyday wear

Notes: Leather, iris, cedar core, raspberry

Eau Rihla is seen as a great Diptyque scent option for men but it can definitely be worn by anyone. Leather is the predominant note but sweet raspberry cuts through and there’s a vanilla edge too. It’s layered and distinctive but it doesn’t overpower. We think the gold label is a lovely, luxurious touch.

The best Diptyque candle scents

Seen in the homes of celebs, influencers and now, you. These candles burn beautifully and will fill your home with a stunning aroma. They come in multiple sizes and can burn for up to 50 hours.

Baies (Berries)

Best for: Spring

Scent: Blackcurrant, coriander, petitgrain, freesia, Bulgarian rose, cedar, musk and formato

Gradually releasing a blackcurrant and rose fragrance, Baies is incredibly balanced. There’s a tart element that stops it from being too sweet, evoking thoughts of a garden full of wildflowers.

Ambre (Amber)

Best for: Cosy nights

Scent: Amber, wood, vetiver, spices, patchouli, tonka bean, cistus, incense, and aniseed

Rich and decadent, Ambre is perfect for curling up with a good book kind of vibes. There’s a strength and warmth behind it that can fill a large space with ease.

34 Boulevard Saint Germain

Best for: Keeping this neutral

Scent: Cinnamon, clove, moss, blackcurrant, fig leaf, cardamom, pink pepper, geranium, iris, tuberose, florals and eucalyptus.

A softer scent, 34 Boulevard is long-lasting and calming. We love the elegant herbal notes, making it perfect for when you have guests over.

Figuier (Fig Tree)

Best for: Those who like a fresh space

Scent: Fig fruit, fresh leaves, bergamot, rosewood and fig tree bark

Diptyque really loves a fig scent and yes, of course, they have a candle version. Figuier is inspired by the Mediterranean but we love the woody notes.

Feu de Bois (Fire Wood)

Best for: Colder evenings

Scent: Birch, juniper, and cade

A candle that reminds us of a toasty crackling fire? Yes please! Another warm choice, Feu de Bois instantly makes you feel comforted and is fabulous in the winter.

Roses

Best for: Floral fans

Scent: Centafolia rose, rosa damascena

Want a candle that will you feel like you’ve been gifted a lovely bouquet of fresh roses? Then Diptyque’s Roses is definitely for you. Flirty and fresh, this candle is blooming brilliant.

Mimosa

Best for: That holiday feeling

Scent: Geraniums, honey, spices

Who doesn’t love a Mimosa while on a vacay? This candle captures that wonderful feeling with sunny notes and an overall uplifting scent. For spring going into summer, this luxurious candle is ideal.
